Three Mindset Shifts To Succeed As a Cash Based Chiropractor

Having the right mindset is the #1 most important thing a cash based chiropractor needs to succeed in practice. Looking back over the course of my career I realized that their were a few area where I had a poor mindset starting out. In this article I’ll look at three areas that an improved mindset can set you up for success as a cash based chiropractor.

  1. Money

If you’re anything like me your career journey went something like this: Broke college student -> Broke Personal Trainer (1 Year) -> Broke Chiropractic Student -> Broke Small Business Owner.

By the time I was 27 years old I had never really had never really had any extra cash. As a result I had a terrible relationship with money. This bled into my cash based chiropractic practice in a few ways. I priced my services to low. I got nervous and anxious discussing prices with patients. The impacted my communication during my report of findings.

To succeed as a cash based chiropractor you need to improve your relationship of money. Money is something that people use to bring value into their life. Being comfortable talking about money will helps your patients feel confident in your clinic.

  2. Selling

Most chiropractors I talk to HATE the idea of ‘selling’. They feel is ‘cheapens’ the profession. After all, medical doctors don’t have to sell themselves. Well guess what? You’re not a medical doctor. The people in your community view you totally different than other doctors in their area. And if you refuse to sell your services to your patients they will go somewhere else. And many times this means going to in-network clinics where they will get WORSE outcomes than had they stayed at your clinic. You lose and the patient loses.

To suceed as a cash based chiropractor you will need to change your perception of selling. It doesn’t have to feel sleazy and manipulative. Selling is healthy. Communicating and demonstrating the value of your services will help your community make better decisions with regards to their health. And improving their health will bring huge value to their life.

  3. Your Role In The Business

Whether you know it or not, anyone who opens their own practice is becoming a business owner. This is especially true for the cash based chiropractor. We went to school to be a clinician. And many new chiropractor don’t necesarily want to run a business. But the reality is that your role, especially early on, will be that of a small business owner.

To succeed as a cash based chiropractor you need to develop your business skills. Creating systems. Hiring. Firing. Customer development. Marketing. These are all things that are part of running a successful cash based chiropractic clinic.

Having a good relationship with money, feeling comfortable selling yourself, and understanding that your role in the clinic will be a large part business owner will help set you up for success as a cash based chiropractor.
